fighters enagage
« on: 13 Apr 2007, 00:45:31 »
I want to have two jets come into my area and attack me and my wingman. I tried putting Destroy waypoints onto my plane but they seem to fly past me all the way to where I started the mission and then never come back.

I also tried putting seek and destroy waypoints in the area that i'm flying but again one of the jets seems to just bugger off.

What else can i try?

you can try issuing reveal, dotarget and dofire commands to the jets.

Can also try the following. Place an S&D waypoint and a cycle waypoint on top of it. Write a script to move both these WPs along with your aircraft. Used in conjection with the reveal command, they should slaughter you quite nicely.

I wrote a script that, when the planes got to their last move waypoint, executed and did something like this,

Code: [Select]
#Loop
? Not (Alive MyPlane) : GoTo "Exit"
Plane Reveal MyPlane
Plane DoTarget MyPlane
Plane DoFire MyPlane
~60
Goto "Loop"

#Exit
Plane Land "Land"
Exit

Worked the first time I ran it and the planes gave me a good go.
Unfortunatley the retarded AI pilots (I think pilots are the most challenged of all Flashpoint AI) tried to go to guns on me and just flew up my arse. I even wrote scripts that would make sure the AI tried missiles on me first, but again the pilots showed their lack of grey matter by firing them at totally innefective moments. Hey Ho. Still fun to dogfight with them, even if they really pose no threat to you whatsoever.
