Unload/Trasport Unload
« on: 14 Sep 2006, 19:26:04 »
Can anyone tell me what the difference between Unload and Transport Unload wp's are?
Particularly what Unload can be used for?

Unload - vehicle will wait for units in cargo to leave vehicle.
Transport Unload - vehicle will wait for units which began in vehicle to leave cargo.

ps - you spelled 'know' wrong in your sig ;)

To add to bedges answer.  Unload is for units that are in cargo and are in the same group as the crew of the vehicle.  Transport Unload is for units in cargo that are not in the same group are the crew.

Unload: Tells a vehicle to unload all soldiers from its group that are carried as cargo.  The crew stay on board and soldiers from other groups remain on board as well
Transport Unload: All vehicles in the group will unload all soldiers in cargo that belong to other groups.  It does not matter if these unit started the mission in the vehicle or whether they previously boarded via a Get In Waypoint.

Use of the Unload WP:

Try this:
Create a BMP and then create a few soldiers and group them with the BMP.  In the init field of each of the soldiers put the following in the inti field:
this moveInCargo nameofthebmp

Give the BMP a set of waypoints, one of which is an Unload WP.  The soldiers should get out at this point.  I say should because I have never used it.  It might be of use in a cutscene for example.

And to add something to THobson's example:

When you place the bmp and the soldiers grouped to it, set the SPECIAL field
of the soldiers to: in cargo
and try without typing the code into init field.

That would do the job aswell and you should find the soldiers in cargo of the bmp.  ;)

Sometimes the power of the ingame editor is amazing and lot of things can be
done without opening any notepad for making a script.

Well what do you know!  I had never found a use for the 'In Cargo' setting.  Very logic though now you mention it.

I know about the in cargo special box.
If you're interested, the question (and many after it) is going towards my 1st mission for submission.
A blackhawk down style tonal mission.
