Starting 1962 the Zweirad Union AG / Nürnberg, at this time still a company of the Faun-Werke,
developed a multi purpose vehicle for land and forrest use. The Bundeswehr adopted the Kraka for
its Airforce-Paratroopers. The Bundeswehr purchased 1974/75 a total of 860 Kraka to be delivered
to the 1.LL-Div. A air-cooled BMW motor drives the rear axles via left and right drive chain. The engine is similar to the BMW motorcycle engine. Kraka is classified as small truck with payload of 0.75 tons. It has a standard 4 speed transmission with reverse gear. Electric starter and complete illumination are standard. The truck can be folded down to make it small for air-drop
