Canyons, Mesas, and Badlands

I have many leftover DEM files and 256 bitmaps of the Utah, Arizona, Colorado, etc. from my Tribes mapping days. These seem like they would make for great OFP maps.  However, I see only a few cliffs and no canyons on the official game maps.

So, I am wondering:  Does this sort of terrain mess with the AI, the frame rate, or cause some other trouble with OFP?

There are a few.  The fjord at Vigny on Malden springs to mind, and the north coast of Nogova.  Parts of The Hill on Kolgujev are very steep.

It doesn't do the AI any favours and its not much fun for the player either.    From BIS's perspective there's no point in making a map with dud areas.    Plus it didn't fit in with the orginal landscape very well.

i think i new map with some cliffs would be great, for better ambush positions and a little added difficulty at reaching objectives.
