Oh no! Not again!
« on: 12 Oct 2005, 20:52:33 »
I've got a really small problem (a noob one, in thruth, but....) that's giving me pain.
When I load a mission (edited by me) I receive an error msg about a missing addon.
I've deleted the vehicles that were part of this addon during the editing stage and there are no traces of 'em in the sqm file.
Luckly, the msg is limited to the intro, so checking the sqm is quite simple, as there aren't so much things placed on the map (less than 50).
This is not the first time I've encountered such kind of problem, but in previous cases I was able to detect the source of the problem in the sqm, but this time......
How the hell can i do?
 ???  >:(
Thanks

There are two addon{} parts in the sqm. One for the mission and one for the intro. Did you check both?

Yes I did.
It's presents only in the intro part and by deleting it it gives the error msg.

if deleting it gives the error why not keep it ? or does that make it so you need the addon open up the .sqm click edit find and type the name of the addon and keep checking then get rid of whatever is found then open up the editor load the mission in plain ofp no addons apart from addons needed for the mission if any then search for markers i had a problem linked to the USMC markers and it was size 0 0 so i couldnt see it

if that doesnt help then im not totally sure what you can do maybe copy all the units from the intro press the clear button and paste the units back on there may be some unit in a random place like in the corner of the map has happened to me and im still not sure why  ;D

That's exactly what I've searched for. I've resolved similar probs in the past, because the sqm reports all objects even if their size is 0. But i haven't  found any similar traces in this case.

I will try your second suggestion.

There might be a remote chance that this is an addon conflict problem.  Sometimes one or more addons conflict, causing an error message which can screw up the mission, even though those specific units aren't even in the mission.

@Pilot
I suspect you're right....
Luckly this addon will be released togheter with others that are needed for my mission in the same zip....
However, I'm still working for a solution, but for the moment without luck. :(

@456
The object is an empty vehicle, placed there only for scenografical pourpouses. No trigger or events were linked to it....

Thanks.

I had a ghost addon problem once and Flashpoint behaved very wierd. I had to go into the editor to where the unit used to be and delete an invisible object. I pulled group lines into the area where I thought it was and eventually it locked onto nothing. I deleted it and the mission worked.

Dodgy I know but I thought I'd share it. This was 1.85 days though.

Thank you for your suggestion, but since the object is an empty one your method doesn't works in my case.
I'm getting really nervous......

I'm not sure, if I understand your problem entirely; I'm not a big fan of addons, so I don't download any addon I see, so I don't have such problems.  So I'm not sure, if I can help you, but that's how I would do:

firstly, I'll take a pill to calm down myself, then I'll devide the map on sectors, then I'll copy and paste the sectors on new, clean map, and check, if the error msg shows up.  I'll repeat the procedure, until I'll find the sector, which gives me the pain.  Then, if possible, I'll delete the sector, or I'll devide the sector on sectors, and...  Or I'll even delete the whole (and when I say whole, I mean WHOLE) map, and in those three days I'll made a new intro.

And there're no such things as a noob problems, there're just ... problems. ;)

@karantan
Thank you for your suggestion, i'm going to try your method just now.
If this will not work.....well, It will remain as it is: I've no time to redo the intro, since if all goes well the mission will be released this weekend.
Thanks,
Klavan
