Changing OFP GUI

Hi all, newbie here also first timer on these boards. I searched the forums and I didn't find a topic on this. I was wondering if it's possible to change the menu interface? I would like to maybe change the fonts, font sizes, placement, etc. Any help appreciated.

i don't think it can be changed, but it can be overlaid with a new gui. search for 'dialog' in the editor's depot. there are fine tutorials there, albeit tricksy for noobsters ;)

just so you know, dialogs are considered 'advanced' here at ofpec... you have been warned  :P

EDIT - in fact, i think i may shunt it over there, just keep things tidy... tadaaa

Can be changed but you would have to edit OFP's configuration files. Probably only resource.cpp would need to be changed, IIRC. The other configuration file is config.cpp. Those files are actually resource.bin and config.bin in the OFP\bin folder or for Resistance OFP\res\bin folder. I think these files can be found in some form from the Editors Depot by searching a little bit... or you can grab a utility from somewhere which can uncompress the bin files into cpp form so you can read them with a text editor. Make backups first if you start to experiment with the original bin files!

You don't need to convert the cpp file back to bin format before testing it in OFP, it works as cpp just fine. Just make sure you have only one config and resource file at a time in the bin folders when testing (renaming files helps here).

There's a lot to read in those configuration files but I bet you'll find the GUI configuration lines by yourself ;)

That's like making your own mod so you would have difficulties in multiplayer games when you'd have that modification loaded.

well, we definitly know it can be done, FDF did it for their wonderful mod and it looked fantastic.  Civil war mod also changed the GUI to stunning effect.  This is something I would really like to see a tutorial on, on the other hand if i can figure it out myself I might make one.

As for dialogs, get a description.ext tutorial, Vektorboson's text tutorial and the dialog editor by razorwings and you can really hit the ground running.  As a fellow newbie I would like to offer my encouragment and limited knowledge to anyone who wants to get into dialog editing, it can really enhance a mission.

The OFP GUI is in the resource.cpp(bin), search for class RscActiveMenu, that's the class it starts with..
The last class included in the GUI stuff is class RscDisplayMissionEnd..

Everything, like the MP menus, Options etc are included in and between those classes..

Editing the GUI in OFP is very easy to do - making it look good is something else though. But if all you want to do is change font sizes etc. then I'd recommend Raymond Koh's tut over at Project War Chamber.

I think it explains the basics pretty well :)

The was a tutorial over at the Project War Chamber site. They've updated it though, so you might not be able to find it. Check the Affilate Mods for the url.

Oh, never mind. Lean Bear was all over that one. :P
