« on: 31 Jul 2005, 20:13:58 »
is there any way of ascertaining what text goes along with any given marker?

m'kay. you place a marker in the editor, and there's a text field. you can type in text, and it appears next to the marker.

in game, you can call up the map, double click on it and type in text defining your own real-time marker.

my question: is there a way of getting at the text using script? editor-placed markers can be changed in terms of size and shape and position, in-game markers can be got at too.

but not text it seems. ho hum.

I've seen this type before.. I don't know how to do this but I have an alternative method...

Delete the current marker.
Then make another one of the same type, but with a different text.

I hope this is what you mean.
Sorry I can't be much of help.

Bedges, i did want to use this for my MOTAG (MOre Than A Group)
too.

Unfortunately there's no way to interact with the marker's text.

In my case it was that i did want to change the marker text
instead of your case, where you want to access the info you
get from the marker text (at least that's what i think you want do).

I even tried to use strg_ variables, but there was no way to interact with marker text.

The rule:

If something a) would be useful or b) actually works, it's not in OFP.

The two commands getMarkerText and setMarkerText satisfies both, and are therefore by definition not available in OFP, despite having been requested since OFP was released. Useful and working commands are reserved for "that other product", VBS-1.  ::)

ach fuducker. it's easy to see why there are such high hopes for ofpII...  ::)

in the end it's just cosmetic - i have a dialog which lists the markers put on the map by the player, and at the moment they're called 'marker1', 'marker2', etc. the text typed in by the player would have been a bit more pleasingly interactive. but them's the breaks.

thanks for the input gentlemen.
