Placing proxys that don't exist... Argh!
« on: 24 Jul 2005, 23:14:40 »
I started working on an M60 tank model a year ago, now it's almost finished, just some some proxy's, interior remodelling and done... But it turns out that the Proxy the BIS', SIG's and INQ's m60's use don't exist... No really, They use the following proxy's: M60Commander; M60CommanderOut; M60Driver; M60DriverOut   and none of them exist in any of my ofp's Data3d.p3d's. I unpbo'd all of them... in the Dta folder, in the Dta\Hwtl folder, and the same in the Res folder... nothing!

Because of this I can't place the damn driver and commander into their correct positions!

What should I do?! :'(

Place them anyway.

They are configured under cfgNonAIVerhicles thus:

class ProxyM60Commander:ProxyCommander {};
class ProxyM60Driver:ProxyDriver {};
class ProxyM60Gunner:ProxyGunner {};
class ProxyM60CommanderOut:ProxyCommander {};
class ProxyM60DriverOut:ProxyDriver {};
class ProxyM60GunnerOut:ProxyGunner{};

And ProxyCommander, ProxyDriver and ProxyGunner are configured from ProxyCrew.......model = 'kursor'.

If it works for the m60 it should work for you too.

EDIT: But of course as you can't see them, placing them accurately might take a bit of trial and error.

Trial and error... Oh well, here goes nothing...

 About the M60 tank:
The first LOD ( 0.750) has about 4300 points and 4100 faces,
The 2'nd LOD ( 1.500) has about 3400 points and 3300 faces,
The 3'rd LOD ( 3.000) has about 2200 points and 2050 faces,
The 4'th LOD ( 5.000) has about 1100 points and 1015 faces,
The 5'th LOD ( 7.000) has about 300 points and 250 faces,
The 6'th LOD ( 9.000) has about 200 points and 200 faces.
   At the moment it's mostly using BIS textures and some of mine... like the wheels.
But this is getting off topic now.

by the way... a picture of the tank. \/

BIS's M60 doesn't have that many LOD's.
And it has far fewer faces and vertices per LOD as well.

The first LOD ( 0.500) has about 1407 points and 1053 faces
The 2'nd LOD ( 1.000) has about 928 points and 728 faces
The 3'rd LOD ( 2.000) has about 318 points and 206 faces
The 4'th LOD ( 4.000) has about 216 points and 134 faces
The 5'th LOD ( 7.000) has about 144 points and 67 faces

You might need to cull some from your model if it has problems in-game.

BIS models are for computers from the last century (well not exactly but...anyway)
and my M60A1/3 is a totally new model. The amount of points and faces is about the same as on the CBT bradley... even less.
The CBT bradley has about 7000 points'n'faces on the first LOD and INQ's M1A2 SEP has over 8000 of them, the other LOD's are about the same as mine. So if u have CBT's apc's and INQ's M1A2s running fine... u won't have any problems with my M60A1/3.
