Laser Targets

How do I get a soldier to use his laser designator on targets?
   The AI never seem to just naturally use them.

If the AI is in your squad you could easily just press his F-key (e.g. the third unit = F3) and then 6 for actions, and then scroll through there to find "Weapon laser designator" and order him to target your target.

Using the action menu for your squad only tends to
work some of the times, but the AI will only target enemy targets and not buildings.
      Are there scripts to make AI not in your squad to commandtarget  an object?

I know i suggest this a lot but a lot of times this works for me. Have you tried SnYpirs SP/MP  Support Pack found in the Editors Depot under Mod editing.
He does a good job with Laser AI in there. This may be long way around it, but i figure that it can't hurt to at least look or even try his stuff out.

almost, i do believe it is selectweapon

strange, on my ofp the AI use the designators without any prompting from me, as soon as they see tanks, they whip out the designator, target and follow the tank and semmingly wait for christmas to come
