Debriefing if lose
« on: 06 Jul 2005, 07:24:50 »
All tutorial and resource said: in Briefing use the "End2", if the player lose. But if I use End2 when player lose, the engine play the OutroWin and not the OutroLose.

What I wrote in the briefing.html to manage the Lose situation:

<h2><a name="Debriefing:End1">Mission Complete</a></h2>
and
<h2><a name="Debriefing:Lose">Mission Failed</a></h2> ???
or
<h2><a name="Debriefing:Loose">Mission Failed</a></h2> ???

The End1, 2, 3... it's OK. It's working, but I can't find in any tutorial the word to Lose. How can I make briefing if the player lose???

Thank You! And sorry, belive me, I try the search button, but found nothing.

And how you solve the problem?
The hidden objective is a good idea... I try this.

It's not a lose ending/outro, it's loose.

Finally I use MacGuma's idea: hidden objectives.
I put two hidden objectives "your friend is dead" and "your fife is dead"
and if somebody died I set all normal objectives to "HIDDEN" and the correct objective (eg. friend) set "FAILED". The OFP play the LooseOutro and the Briefing notes show a big, red cross with the death message. It's a very good compromise and looks good. Thanks MacGuba!
