Just started using O2 - a dumb question
« on: 10 Jun 2005, 02:31:58 »
Hello
I just started figuring out the O2 addon maker this week.
I do understand how addons are made with tex files.
However - I am having trouble figuring out how to load the textures on the models.
Now - I get to the "load texture" window, clicking on the texture that I want - but when I hit the "B' key I keep getting the error message "no texture loaded."
Do the textures that one wants to use with the addon have to be loaded into - somehow - the O2 program? I am placing the textures that I want to use in the same folder as my model.  I still keep getting this error message and I have yet to see a texture on my models... ::)

Yes, yes and yes - I did all of that...and I did not get the "no texture loaded" message those times. I have read the instructions on making a crate over and over
But the textures are not showing up on the create in Buldozer...
So - after that, is there something else?
I also have texture library window up and I've got the "unmapped" icon.
Do I also have to select "components" or LOD?

This time the crate in Buldozer shows up all red except the side that I attempted to apply the texture "red_door" - which shows up gray. But - still no texture...

I went into file\options and turned on everything related to texture! So, the problem may be with the setting under options ... :o

I now have the textures (red_door, red_side) showing up on my texture library window, but when I press the preview button, in just get boxes with question marks...
I don't get the "no texture loaded" error message anymore and I pretty much know my way around O2, but I still cannot get the textures to appear on the objects...
What does "gizmo mapping" have to do with this...
That's what I used to get the textures (no pics - just question marks) to appear to show up in my texture library...

I don't feel that this problem has anything to do with what I'm doing (or not doing) - but with a setting of either my O2 program or something else !

Settings:
External viewer : c:\O2viewer\buldozer.exe -noland -dx- window
DLL folder : c:\O2viwer\Users\Jagues
Texture name prefix: create\
Allow nonliner mapping: OFF
View backgrounf LOD: ON
View background in 3D: ON
Start in four views: ON
View normals: ON
Translate step:
Rotate step: 1
Scale step:
Save object after actions:
Save object each min:
Backgroun color: 00FFFFFF
Last open folder: c:\buldozer\crate
Last send folder:
Last merge folder: c:\myaddon_folder\new.model\

Also - am I suppose to see the textures in the texture library window after pressing the Preview button . I have question marks in boxes (like empty\objects in OFP game) before the file names rather than pictures...

 DLL folder : c:\O2viwer\Users\Jagues

I think you have a typo there.....maybe should be:

DLL folder : c:\O2viewer\Users\Jagues

Make your DLL folder point to the same folder that buldozer and Oxygen is in:

DLL folder : c:\O2viewer

Also.......do you have your textures in a folder called create?

Anyway, make sure you have the textures in the right place........the models folder.........and also make sure you have selected the faces you wish to texture first before you enter texture mode.

For reference:

I had this problem too

the cause was that the BIS instructions on the website (http://www.flashpoint1985.com/breathe/) say

quote:

 - Unzip O2light.ZIP anywhere you want to have your programm (e.g.: "C:\Program Files\Oxygen")
- Unzip o2_viewer.ZIP to root of any hard drive or virtual drive (it's recommended to have the drive empty) (e.g.: "D:\", "X:\")

unquote:

so i had buldozer as C:\ and o2 as ~ofpdirectory\oxygen

But the textures didnt load when in either folder

I read the above, but changing the options didnt help.

I solved the problem by re-installing o2 into C:\ - the same folder as buldozer

It seems to work fine now
