Missions endings - noobie doobie doo...
« on: 09 Jun 2005, 21:35:57 »
Many thanks for recent help.  I now have mission endings working.  However, though I'm using OFP Cool Studio to edit my mission basics, I can't seem to get the different debriefings to show up when I export to Single Missions and shoot the wrong people, etc.  I've set triggers for different endings, and set text for those triggers in OFP Cool Studio, but all I get each time is a default debrief with no specific text.  >:(

Also, OFP Cool Studio doesn't remember/reload some settings, eg., sound/music files.  Is there a better mission editor?  (I'm on OFP 1.46 by the way).

what does appear when you try to trigger the different endings? the same debrief? nothing? cool studio may not handle debriefs, so you may need to do it by hand. either way, it does work - trust me ;)

Hi, and thanks for a speedy reply.

I've set-up 5 different endings in my missions, eg., I'm dead, P1 is dead, P1 isn't dead but P2 is, P1 isn't dead but P3 is, etc.  Loading the mission into Cool Studio, it shows the different trigger endings, and lets me put text debriefings for each.  However, when I reload and run the mission, any ending ends ok, but the debriefing just shows a kind of blank page with statistics.  My Cool Studio 'Ending #1', etc., text doesn't show.

Being a noobie I don't yet understand the scripting ways of doing all this, and frankly, many of the tutorials don't make a lot of sense to me.

Any help very much appreciated!

scripting has little to do with this - the key lies in your briefing file. if your triggers are set up and fire properly, the game takes care of the rest. copy/paste the contents of the briefing.html file into a txt document, attach it to your next post, and we'll get it sorted.

can anyone say 'moolti pass'? ;)

Yeah, she knows it's a Multipass...

The atached file is perhaps a slightly earlier version, but Cool Studio says it's a valid multi-ending, etc.  When I shoot the wrong person, all I get is a mostly blank debrief page.  In fact, any ending produces the same result.

 ???

(Had to change the .html to .txt as the forum won't allow .html uploads).

fixed. seems flashpoint doesn't like spaces in its link anchors - i.e. 'debriefing: end1' changes to 'debriefing:end1' and it works.

you also have a lot of redundant paragraphs (<p>) and line breaks (<br>) - my opinion is it's best to do your briefing file by hand - a lot easier to spot mistakes.

good luck - sounds like an interesting mission ;)

Superb - thank you.

Cool Studio isn't so cool then, but at least it's given me something to work on and think about.

My mission 'Twice The Evil' is great fun, but won't be released for opinions until it's all polished up.  (I hate 'first missions' that suck, and no doubt others do too).

Get it beta tested, then it won't suck.
