Addons - I think something went wrong
« on: 22 Jun 2005, 10:59:13 »
I've been trying some addons, and have deleteed them, but OFP RES is now giving me an error msg when it starts, saying:

  "No entry config.bin/CfgWeapons.Hydra70

Anyone know if I've deleted a standard RES weapon by mistake, or if it belongs to an addon I haven't identified and removed..?

Its so much fun deleting addons, especially afterwards when you missed one and it needs something you deleted....
It goes on and on, which is prolly the problem you are having.

Most of the BIS addons are labeled with something obvious and general.

res.pbo
bizon.pbo
etc

edit: Ever heard of the new hydra weapon in patch 1.97 from BIS? :D ;)

If you have deleted an official addon (lets face it, we all do at one stage  ;) ), then try to find which one it is (theres a list somewhere), and ask someone to e-mail it to you.

That is, if it's a res addon your after.

Thanks Greg - my problem is I have no idea what addon (or original .pbo file) this belongs to!  I don't know how to find out, either.

Wouldn't I need to know what .pbo files contained which weapons, etc..?  You reckon there's a list somewhere..?

Heres the list I was talking about  ;)

Does the missing addon error actually effect gameplay? Or is it just on the main menu?

I don't know whether it buggers gameplay, as I've been so busy updating the Ancient Japan site, talking to people, working (or trying to), etc.  Oh, an bombing people with a Harrier addon I got.  Which reminds me - not being able to loop-the-loop in an OFP jet is crap!  Is that a game engine limitation..?

All my addons are in the list you provided (many thanks) so I don't know what's going on.  I'll use that list to safely delete all extra addons, as it may be one of the new ones is causing the error message.  Thanks again.  8)

Good luck on getting rid of it  ;)

Unfortunatly, yes. The majority of rolls etc are impossible on OFP.
However, if you gain some height, put the nose of you plane staight down, and hold in left or right, you can get pulled into a verticle, near uncontrollable spinning nose dive, which is quite fun  ;D

Thanks for the addon list - it turns out it's in an Apache helo addon, which also includes another duff helo which I deleted. Something must be used in both addons, so I'll include both helos to stop the error.  Many thanks.

Also, I'll try your loony twisty dive thing - anything to make it fun!  The Harrier addon is pretty good, and I'm thinking Harriers against Helos. Hmmm...

Edit: Just remembered about my brother who was in the RAF for 12 years telling me about a Tornado pilot who took him up for a spin (he was an officer, but I still don't think it was actually allowed).  The pilot asked him if he was ok, and my brother said sure, so Whappp!! - afterburners, multi-G's and OMFG up the runway. After they've left the ground he hears rustling noises, and looks at the pilot to find he's reading a newspaper!  Taking the piss in a big way.  He freaked of course, but it was on programmed flight mode.  Then it got worse!  He said he kissed the ground like the Pope when they finally landed, and walked wobbly for four or five hours afterward.  8)
