text on screen

dang this is one long day......
i have tryed putting text on the screen with the titletext and the other command and they work! (wow) but i need the screen to stay black in the background (or you see some real nasty stuff) so i try and just put
titletext ["hi",black,0] <or what ever the command is
but it flashes white when the text comes up and that TICKS ME OFF.....whew
so a little help please

If you don't believe me, try it.      

Blackout makes the screen fade to black.   Once it gets to black the command ends and the screen reverts to what was there before.   I have heard reports of it staying black but it's never happened for me.

You can lay titletexts over the titlecut.
