Quick OS question
« on: 06 Apr 2005, 22:29:12 »
You guys seem reliable and quick to respond to questions, so I'll ask here:

I am upgrading to Windows XP Professional and I just got the software in the mail. I have some spyware crap or something in there now that is preventing me from accessing the internet. Therefore, I want to reformat my hard drive and start fresh before I install my new OS. I already backed up the files I want to save, and I am unsure of how to reformat my single hard drive and then install the new OS.

I'm sure this is an easy question for some of you...

Thanks

This site doesn't do tech support for Microsoft, so this thread will probably get locked soon.

Before it is......

I usually use a 'Startup Disk' that contains DOS commands.
I boot with the floppy and format my hard disk from there.

Afterwards inserting the Windows CD to install the OS.

If you don't have a 'Startup Disk', you can create one by going to Control Panel.....Add/Remove Programs.....Startup Disk Tab.

I use Windows Me btw.

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about a little.

Thx. I didn't know about the Microsoft thing... I'll keep this to Operation Flashpoint, only.

Not related to microsoft... How often do some of you reformat your primary drive and reinstall an OS?

Heya Leodinas,

I'm afraid we are strictly an OFP editing site, so don't do discussions of this sort here.

I would suggest checking out www.microsoft.com (never thought I'd hear myself say that ;D) or talk to an IT guy.
