HELP!!!
« on: 02 Apr 2005, 00:21:24 »
Hi all. I have a slight problem.

Do you have to install O2 and O2Viewer in the flashpoint folder?

I didn't and my bulldozer wont show textures.
HELP PLZ ??? ??? ???

No, you can put it where you wish.

If you still can't get it to work, I can detail the steps I took to install it on my system.

I know a little about a lot, and a lot about a little.

Ok......this is a non standard way, but it works for me.
I am running Windows Me btw.

Code: [Select]
Installing Oxygen

Firstly, Unzip o2light.zip to where you want it to be, put it in its own folder.
(For instance I made a folder and called it Oxygen and unzipped o2light.zip into it.)

You should now have a folder with the following files in it:

gifload.dll
jpgload.dll
KEYLIB32.dll
Objektiv2Light.exe
pacload.dll
Pal2Pac.dll

Next, Unzip o2_viewer.zip into the same folder.

This zip file contains a different version of Pal2Pac.dll which will replace the one in there already.....this is OK.

You should now have the following in your new folder:

FOLDERS:

Bin
Data
data3D
Fonts
LandText
o
Users
Worlds

FILES:

buldozer.exe
Flashpoint.cfg
gifload.dll
IFC22.dll
jpgload.dll
KEYLIB32.dll
Objektiv2Light.exe
pacload.dll
Pal2Pac.dll
Pal2PacE.exe
PoseidonMessage.dll

You should now replace the file Flashpoint.cfg with a copy of the one from your OFP installation.

Once all is done you can fire up Objektiv2Light.exe.

Don't fret if it cant find buldozer, you still need to tell it where it is.

Once O2 is running, go to File Menu.......Options.

The Config Dialog will appear.

The first item in this dialog is External Viewer...select this and you can enter the path to buldozer in the text gadget at the bottom of the dialog, remember to include the -noland -dx etc.

For instance, if your folder is called Oxygen, then its path is D:\Tools\Oxygen, so you would enter:

D:\Tools\Oxygen\buldozer.exe -window -noland -dx

The next item is DLL Folder.

Using the same example path, you would enter:

D:\Tools\Oxygen\

Next item is Texture name prefix.

This would read:

data\

It tells buldozer where to look for the textures.

Most of the rest of the dialog entries are ON/OFF switches.

Of these, the ones I have switched ON are:

Allow non-linear mapping
View background LOD
Start in four views
View normals
Fast Textures
Autoconvert GIF & TGA textures

The Translate step, Rotate step and Scale step entries define how large or small the steps are for each of these functions.

Background Color enables you to change the colour of the background from white to whatever you desire.

Texture render memory allows you to specify the amount of memory used. (I have a measly 200Kb selected)

Once you have finished with the Config Dialog, press the OK button to close it and then Exit from O2.

Restart O2 and it should find buldozer, provided you entered the path correctly.

Another thing is the data and LandText folders in your O2 folder.

If you Unpbo the OFP data.pbo and also the LandText.pbo, and replace the folders in your O2 folder with these, you will have a lot more textures to play with.

However, the data3d contents are MLOD models and you cant really replace these with the unpbo'd data3d.pbo (ODOL models).
You can however get a full set of MLOD models that came with the OFP Demo and use these instead.

Hope it helps you.  ;D

Yes DBR, I know about that site too, however I disagree with this bit:

Quote
Bulldozer (the viewer, remember) wont work unless it is installed on a "root drive" (like C:\ or F:\, and NOT C:\programfiles\bulldozer or something like that).

Because my installation is not on the 'root' of any drive.
Still, it's always nice to have more than one way to do something, that way you can try other ways if the first way fails to work for you.   ::)  ;D
