Is their a way of giving units different face expressions using scripts? particularly ones where you can turn them on for a certain amount of time and then go back to default expressions. :) thanks for any replies

Look at setMimic in the comref.  If you don't know where that is go to Edit dept/Online References/Commands.

Also you might want to have a look at Faces and Voices here:

Just use setmimic, as Mikey said, but I'll tell you how to use it anyway.

unitname setmimic "Angry" or for the setting you can use Happy, smile, ironic, hurt, suprised.

Then when you want to put his mimic back to normal just put
unitname setmimic "Defualt".

That should work fine.
I like your approach, lets see your departure.

either will do, depending on your preference - 'normal' will set the expression to 'dull' and unchanging.  'default' appears to enable changing expressions depending on mood, tide, season and planetary conjunction.

WHOA THERE! i could be full of shit on this one... i've just done a check and it seems only loons without any setmimic designated will change expressions. in the current test, both 'normal' and 'default' have the same effect, i.e only very veeery tiny movement at the corners of the mouths.

Well I have changed all my scripts to put everyone back to Default mimic.  It sound like it should be okay.

Wow... You really made a field study of this? Impressing. Hope you remember to study the loons in their natural environment. They can behave very different if you take them into a laboratory  ;D

P.S I'm not being sarcastic. I'm truly amazed what OFP makes us do with our free time sometimes. My wife said I was crazy when I spent an hour trying to figure out if I could make a loon change from running around a car in a clockwise to an anti clockwise direction last weekend by placing different objects near the vehicle.
