hidden notes....
« on: 06 Mar 2005, 20:55:22 »
A hoy mateys. A question for you all.

I want to have grid references in the notes section, but only after you have reached a trigger in a house (go into house and find map with mark on "Oh i'll write that down so I don't forget it".) I know you can have hidden objectives but I want the some of the notes to be hidden. Is this possible? If so how. Thanks in advance

 Thankyou.

I cant't help you with hidden sections of the note page. But I usually include a hidden objective when I want to add hidden pages to the briefing.

Inside the objective I put a link to another page. Thus this page cannot be seen until the objective is revealed. It's almost the same thing as you asked for.

Download my MP mission "Secret Army" from the mission depot and use it as a template if you wish. It's a bit large, but completely addon free (except for editorupdate)

nominesine is right.   The only way to make something appear during the mission is to have a link to it in a hidden objective.

It's not the end of the world.  The objective appears and can be marked with a green tick simultaneously.

Another trick is to have a non-hidden objective:  when you complete it, it is hidden and replaced by a very similar looking objective which includes the link.    For example:-

* Find secret papers

is replaced by

[tick]  Secret papers found

With an embedded link.

Clever. I've never thought about that. Will try it ASAP

also note that if that same objective (with link) remains in the debriefing, the player can access the page. but then trying to get back to the objectives from the linked page is... messy.

therefore another objective, the same as the second only without the link, is needed for the debrief.

cheers :)

ive seen this somewhere theres a script like the init.sqs but is ran at the end of a mission think its called exit.sqs or something but in there you could place "2" objstatus "HIDDEN"
i saw it in a post about a day ago on the editing scripting general page.
i think macguba posted it try and have a look for it

You could indeed do the objective switch in exit.sqs, which is called automatically at the end of the mission.    At least I presume so, I haven't tested it.
