NamedSelections2Obj & MLOD ???
« on: 05 Mar 2005, 14:13:14 »
Hey Boys... im back again

Right ive got this maya toturial. it tells me that i need
a propper mlod file to import into NamedSelections2Obj tool ???
it's all explaind in the txt below..

Importing the model
To import your model (the "named selections") in Maya, first you need a proper MLOD .p3d (with all the selections done). Start NamedSelections2Obj.exe. Select a .p3d, then select one (or more) of it's LODs and export it (them). Normally, for this purpose, you would select the highest resolution LOD. If all goes well, you will have an .obj file. Import it in Maya by going File > Import (options box) > Select "OBJ" for "File Type" and check "Create Multiple Objects" > Import the file.

My problem is.... dont know where to get  this Mlod.p3d file from.... soooo if any of you guyes now how
to get one. or tell me needs to be done.. i would appriciate it...
 ;D

Go here:

http://www.flashpoint1985.com/breathe/index.html

And download the Sample models from BIS.........they are MLOD format.

In fact Oxygen only deals with MLOD format .p3d's, it cannot open ODOL format.

ODOL p3d's are the ones you find in-game mostly, although MLOD p3d's work in-game also.

ODOL p3d's are optimised for the game, they are smaller in file size.

Binarize will convert MLOD's to ODOL

If Maya wants an MLOD give it an MLOD, I doubt it will thank you for an ODOL.

Oxygen will open MLOD p3d files and will save p3d's as MLOD. but it cannot open or deal with the optimised version (ODOL).
