Semi-transparent textures
« on: 18 Feb 2005, 12:19:54 »
I was just wondering if semi-transparent textures are actually possible?

I can make them in various programs, but when I export it to .paa/.pac PAATool just registers it as a solid block of colour.

I've seen multiple examples of semi-transparent water, so surely it is possible for normal textures as well?

enable RGBA 4:4:4:4 in paatool and save the texture as PAA. works fine for me.

Oops, I knew I'd done it before :P

I was using TexView not PAATool, thanks for jogging my memory :)

yeah, but texview should also do the job if you save it as paa.

Fraid not :-\

TexView saves the .tga files using RGB (4:4:4:1) not RGBA (4:4:4:4).

Which was the problem I had.

PAATool is the answer everyone who has the same problem :D

You should be able to get it from most OFP sites with a download section.

This is because the authors of said tools have not deemed OFPEC worthy enough to submit their tool to.

Or maybe they just forgot    ;D

OK, I've tried PAATool until its bursted at the seams.

Conversion using RGBA 4:4:4:4 deffinately works for semi-transparency. Thanks a lot remcen

Also, I meant before that TexView only saves in RGBA 5:5:5:1 (not 4:4:4:1 :P)
