Problems with Choppers
« on: 21 Feb 2005, 00:13:39 »
Hi all,

I am having troubles with a uh60. I want this helicopter to wait for a single solider to board and then transport him to the transport unload waypoint.

The trouble started when I tested it. It worked fine. But then the second time I tried it just took off before the man arrived at the chopper. I had used the name stop t or f function with the get in waypoints as an activator for the helicopter. But it seems to be useless now with anything except trucks and men. All helicopters and armoured vehicles refuse to accept the command.

I have also tried the disableAI "move" commands and the same thing occurs. Works with men and trucks not with helicopters.

I would be very happy if anyone could share some knowledge with me. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong.

did you syncronize the two wps together?

Choppers are a nightmare in OFP.   Head over to the Ed Depot and grab some tutorials and scripts to help you.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Hey!
Another method (like Tyger said) is syncronisation! On the Blackhawk, set it's fuel to 0. Make a simple 'MOVE' trigger on the UH60, for the UH60. Create a 'GET IN' waypoint for the soldier with the 'On Activation' field reading: "UH60 setFuel 1. This should work easily as the chopper will not go anywhere as it has no fuel (common law of pshyics, you know!  :P) and will wait till ALL the squad has boarded thanks to the Syncronisation! Good luck!

Hey,

Thanks a lot of the tips. I will try them tonight. I didn't realise that synchronisation would be required with commands that tell the units to wait. Hopefully it works and this mission turns out to be a fun one to play.
