New M4 Variant (SR-47)

I was on the DKM forums and saw this thing mentioned:

Basically looks like an M4 but is chambered for the 7.62x39mm Ak-47 ammo.  They made these for the US special forces in Afghanistan.  

This would be a good addon as long as it used the default ak-47 ammo.  That way you could just snag more ammo off the dead guys.

Gnarly! I see in a lot of Movies Guys with M16s Grabbing AK mags from Dead Guys, I know the AK47 bullet is 2mm bigger that the M16's, the 74 is about the same as the M16, I'm Cunfuzzled

Soviet rounds are also shorter than thier western counter parts ie in 7.62 the nato round is 56mm long(a quick geuss here) while the soviet(also knowns as 7.62 short) is only 39mm long the same sort of thing applies in 5.56mm ammo.
basically western rounds were designed for long range accuracy while soviet rounds were designed for high rate of controllable(realtivly speaking) fire.

The western 7.62 is 51mm long not 56mm (.308Win, 7.62x51mm NATO (m24sws/psg1..))
and the russian is 7.62x39R (AK47 series/groza/rpd..)
and 7.62x54R (SVD/PKM/Pecheneg........)

well then you all better not forget the 30-06 Springfield used in several older rifles(WWII guys especially cause the M1 Garand, BAR, 30cal Browning and a few others that are lesser known like the Johnsonville)  the 30-06 is the 7.62X63mm(can be confirmed in Janes Guns Recognition Guide).  


I am all for an M4 type firing the 7.62X39mm, but it would have to have a modification done to the magazine because AK and M4 mags are not interchangeable.  another thought is that since the AK-74 is used more than the AK-47 that the M4 could be chambered for the 5.45X39mm used in the AK-74(believe this is accurate, no time to confirm), which would place it as  smaller round that the 223 remington(5.56X45mm to you non-hunters)

In real life, this weapon accepts AK magazines, if I'm not mistaken. This was a requirement of the operators.
I wonder if this would spawn other varients chambered for the 5.45mm for the AK-74, and/or the 9x39mm SP6 ammo used by the Bizon and Groza?

I doubt that they'll chamber it (m4) for SP6s cartriges......cause thers no way you'll find ne sp6 cartriges in Afghan/Iraq.......
