Weapon/Ammo/Troop names
« on: 06 Feb 2005, 06:09:02 »
How can i get a complete list of all weapon names (for in scripts), ammo, and troops in ColdWar/RedHammer/Resistance?

Why?

I want to go through the campaign scripts and replace all instances with them with their (in my opinion) WGL couterparts.

Ideally, if someone has a script/addon that does this, or there is a tool i can use to go through all the files in a tree and do the replacements that are mapped somehow, that would be helpful.

For instance, i would want all West Soldiers to be replaced with West WGL Infantry (standard) Riflemen, all West AT/LAW soldiers to be replaced with West WGL Anti-armor Specialists, ect.

WGL comes with a list of all the names in it, i only need the names for the origional game and resistance.

I don't know about answering your specific question, but have you thought of the following way:

-de-PBO the campaigns
-edit each of the mission files using a global replace for each of the unit types you want to change.

I think the soldier names are in the comref.     There is a Weapon and ammo listing in the Ed Depot - Tutorials - References.

Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Yea, there is a list in the command reference, but that doesn't tell me what they are in english.

I have it mostly figured out now, because i did De-pbo it and have been editing the scripts. I have been making sure to check all of them, i have cought one or two things (important to my modification) in the init script. The tricky part is replacing things in the right order so you dont end up with something funky like WGL_WGL_SoldierELAWRPG and crap, when you should have WGL_SolderERPG.

So far, i am done with 1985.pbo all the way up to misssion 07HoldMalden.Abel

Seems to be going well. Definatly makes it interesting to play again!
