Lighting

I tried putting in some lamps in my mission so that there would be lighting at night.  I see that default light activation is default.  However, when I check out the lights, only the light flash sprite is displaying--none of the ground is actually being lit.  From what I read here and there, this is how it works.  That sucks.

Is there a lamppost that will illuminate the surrounding ground?  I might settle for one of those lamps, but when turned on, they make a raging fire sound that I don't want.  Are there any default lighting units that provide illumination without the sound?

So you have tried createVehicleing a lamppost from one of the islands and then using switchLight?

never having tried createvehicle-ing, perhaps that's the easier way and won't require addons. however...

click here for a streetlight addon which will illuminate like a real lightsource. fifth from top, it's only about 1k in size.

i asked this question a wee while back and general barron was kind enough to point me in the relevant direction. be aware that the above addon behaves like a campfire for switching on and off, so it's inflame true/false.

cheers

did me own little createVehicle test, and I couldn't get them to work, just to let ya know. :(
