Can't open .p3d
« on: 30 Jan 2005, 12:12:51 »
This ask has been probably done many times before me, but I simply can't look 56 pages of this Forum Section  >:( , so I ask you:

I have a p3d file, size <200kb. (guess it is compressed) and I can't open it with OXY.
How do I open it?  ???

And what are MLOD and ODOL ?   ???

To open compressed p3d, you will need ODOL Explorer:
http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=6289&newlang=eng
It also allows you to save the files as MLOD, allowing you to open them up in O2

MLOD is the format O2 saves the p3d files in.  It is an uncompressed, raw format.
ODOL is simply a binarized format of p3d.  The computer runs better when the p3d has been binarized, but O2 can't load the format.

Thanks.
And, if I remember well, there should also be a program for binarizing, right?
Where do I find it?

The program for binarizing p3ds is called Binarize, make sure you follow the install instructions to the letter!  Also, I found the instructions for using Binarize a bit vague, so I suggest you also download BinarizeIT by Colonel Klink.

Here is the link for Binarize, it is a few down from the top.
http://www.opflashpoint.org/downloads.php

And here is the link to BinarizeIT, it is about halfway down the page.

Great!
Thanks

A different question (don't wanna start a new topic):
I edited a rifle, without changing textures or similar, but changing the name of the Main folder.
I compressed it and launched the game: I see the basic model without textures, all white. With OXY, all textures all placed.
What is the matter?  ???

The reason the model is all white is:
You changed the name of the main folder.  The p3d is still looking for the textures in the old folder despite the changes you made.  To correct this, open up O2, select the whole weapon (press Crtl-A), and click Faces\Face Properties in the top bar.  A new window will pop up.  In the top of this new window, you will see several rows of information highlighted in blue.  Each row should look something like this:
Code: [Select]
0    14     15     16       OldAddonName\Texture.paa  Click the top line in this blue shaded region, now only that line is highlighted.  You will see at the bottom the path for the texture. It should look something like this:
Code: [Select]
OldAddonName\Texture.paa
Change this to:
Code: [Select]
NewAddonName\Texture.paa
Where OldAddonName is the name of the old addon folder, and NewAddonName is the name of the main folder where your weapon is

This will make the p3d look for the texture in your new addon folder.  You can select multiple faces if they have the same texture!  Otherwise you will have to change each face seperately.  You will have to do this for each face that has a texture!

It is a lot of work, but it should fix the problem.

Ok...
All done.
Thanks! :)

...Uff: another problem: the muzzle, always visible.
How do I fix it?  :P
Someone said that I only had to match names of something (don't remember what...)
Is it ?

Done, once again.
I realized this rifle, with others, but all they have a problem mith the Muzzle-Flash.
It's too dark, like grey...

Can someone help me?
