Learning The lingo - help!

where can I learn the rules of typing in the init field? I already have the command reference but that just tells you what certain words mean, like "addmagazine" and whatnot. I want to learn stuff like where to put the commas, semicolons and quoteations and why. Ive been googleing this for weeks and havent found anything, people have to learn this stuff somewhere. Thanks.

It's in the command reference under "Scripting topics".

The time-honoured way to learn scripting is to read (in addition to the comref, obviously) snYpir's A Friendly Intro to Code Snippets and Johan Gustafsson's Scripting Guide.    The Tutorial Mission offers some very simple real, live scripts "in the field" so to speak.

I strongly recommend that you become familiar with all of the tutorials in the Getting Started section of the Editors Depot.   Everything you need to know is there.

For the init field in particular, Abuu's Basic Editing Tutorial is very good.
