Make a picture appear in transparency
« on: 07 Jan 2005, 08:57:36 »
I've got a big problem with a picture.

I want to put in my cutscene a sight of sniper rifle. I've made a beautiful one with Adobe Illustrator, but it's impossible to make it appear in transparency with commands like « CutRsc ».
The background remains white !

I know how to make this with simple text with « titleRSC » command and Description.ext file. But with a picture…

Thanks for any reply and excuse my basic english…

I believe you have to make the picture transparent from Adobe Illustrator or some other graphics editor.  I don't believe transparency is set using the Description.ext file.

As I am not familiar with Illustrator, I don't know the exact method of setting transparency.  Usually you must select the portion of the picture you want transparent and either delete it or set that color as a transparent color.  Check the help wizard in Adobe Illustrator to find the exact method.

Also, certain file types can't recognize transparent textures.  Among them is the .jpg.  So if your file is a .jpg, you will have to save it as a .tga file, then, using Texview, save the .tga as a .paa file.

A big thanks Student Pilot !
It works fine.
My picture was indeed in Jpg format... The Targa ==> paa one works much better.
