Plane taxi turn radius and accuracy
« on: 01 Jan 2005, 16:47:27 »
What part of the config file adjusts the turning radius for a plane on the ground?  In other words, how do I make my plane turn quicker while it's taxiing?

Also, what effect does the accuracy part of the config have upon the plane?

I might be wrong with this, but, try playing with the value of these:

accuracy=0.3

or

wheelSteeringSensitivity=1.0;

Actually I think accuracy might have something to do with how easily it is identified by AI, but, I'm not too sure.

Just some suggestions anyway.   ;D

Adjusting wheelSteeringSensitivity works great!  Thank you Planck!

I will do some experimenting with the accuracy.

Ok, I'm still experimenting with accuracy, but a new question has come up.

My aircraft's ailerone and elevator sensitivity are about where I want it, but the plane doesn't turn too well in the air.  Adjusting maneuverabililty doesn't seem to do anything.  So what do I do to make the plane turn quicker in the air?

Hmmm.........I don't know this one.

Looking at the configs there are some lines you might like to play with, but, I don't know if they will help or not.

steerAheadSimul=1.0;
steerAheadPlan=2.0;

They most likely don't have anything to do with the rudder, but it won't hurt to try.

On another note:

precision=200;

This might be the value I was thinking of that had to do with AI recognition.
It's either that one or:

accuracy=0.1;

As I have never made a aircraft addon it is sometimes just guesswork on my part.  ::)

Ok, I finally have the turning problem fixed!

I fixed the problem by increasing the NoseDownCoef number.
