Plane gradually settles on tail
« on: 01 Jan 2005, 17:41:36 »
When I load my plane into the mission editor, it will start out in it's correct position, on all three landing gear.  However, it will gradually settle onto it's tail, resulting in a nose high attitude while it's stationary and on the ramp!  Am I missing a vertice in the memory lod defining a center of gravity, or is it another problem that is causing this?

Hmmmmm..........yes I would check the centre of gravity, maybe move it slightly forward.

Also it might be the landcontact points, check those as well anyway.

If you can, refer to another plane model, one you know works right.

How do I define a center of gravity?  Do I have to insert a vertice to do so, and if yes, what do I name it?

In the meantime, I'll check out a few aircraft.

I think.........it is the large blue dot in the Geometry LOD.

When you set the various weights of the aircraft component parts, the blue dot shows the resulting centre of gravity.  You did give it some weight didn't you?

Anyway thats the way I see it, but anyone........feel free to contradict me.

Yes, I did give the aircraft a weight, however, I gave the weight when the whole aircraft was selected, centering the weight in the middle of the plane.  I gave the forward nodes more weight, and it solved my problem.  Thanks again, Planck!
