Iron Rifle Sights

Dunno how much controversy there is (or am I starting it ???).

But there are two kinds of iron rifle sights.

1.) the BIS like ones that are zoomed in a bit more.

2.) far away sights like the ones in Earl & Suchey's Marines and COD :Finest Hour

For gameplay the #1 sights work good for gunfights, but the #2 sights are more real. :-\

What are ppl making or thinking about this?

I felt I should bring it up, I prefer the #2 sights even though they are not used much.  :P

I prefere using the #2 sights because of it just looks better. OFP is ment to be a realistic shooter, but when you look down a guns sights, you don't see a black square with a line sticking in it.  ;)

I'd like them slightly zoomed in. Otherwise, there's very little point in them (You can use the right mouse to zoom them in a bit)
Besides, if you were aiming down the sights, your view would be slightly, not zoomed in.. Closer (As you would be concentrating more etc)

BTW, for 2, do you mean the look of the optics? As in almost real looking, instead of a black block/circle on BIS weapons? :P

Yes I prefer two better. I just thought weapons would look better, and zooming in with right click is just like focusing on one area.

As for the look of them, I'd prefer some more texture to them, not the all black. Might give the gun a more realistic look.

Wow feels like this thread isn't going anywhere. :P :'( :-\

Actually, I have to say that I prefer #1, if I understand correctly.

I haven't used suchey & earl's marines, or played COD. But I have played some games where the iron sights create a very small "hole" to look thru on the screen, which I assume is what you mean. I don't like it, because when I shoot, I put my eye real close to the rear sight apature, which makes the "hole" look bigger, like BIS's sights.

I also prefer the black, fuzzy picture of BIS's iron sights over some much more detailed and focused sights I've seen. When you are aiming down the sight, obviously the rear sight isn't in focus (because you are focusing on the front sight tip). So having ultra detailed and focused sights is just too unrealistic for me.

There is a problem with BIS's iron sights though. Try using an AK47 at night, and you'll see what I mean  ;)

INQ weapons have nice sights.. They have glowing green dots, with black sights (If I remeber correctly.. It mighta been textured?)
The sights (IMO) need textures, but blurry ones.. SLightly zoomed (As in focusing on area, like was mentioned for the right mouse button)
