Running OFP w/o Island/ in a Window
« on: 14 Apr 2005, 04:12:04 »
Is there a way to prevent island anims from loading in OFP...at startup, and at the end of a mission...

Also can I make ofp run in a window, so i can easilsly switch between my script editor and OFP while mission editing....

I hope i put this request in the right place...Thanks

1st question: i don't think so.

2nd question: use Alt+Tab to switch out of OFP.

1.   Remove them ... I think they are in DTA/anims.pbo.   But I wouldn't recommend it.   Apart from all the usual caveats of messing with the game the actual consequence is messy.   Instead of an anim, behind the main menu you get the last mission that you played in the mission editor.   Usually this means that mouse clicks fire shots as well as selecting menu items.   I have no idea what happens when you first start the game, I wouldn't be surprised if it crashed.

Perhaps you could make your own anims and replace the standard ones with those.

2.  alt tab works, you don't even need to pause the game although it is desirable.   You can copy and paste between text files and the mission editor.

Oh, and this is request is more or less in the right place ... I'd have put it in Editing: General rather than Editing: Advanced but that's not a big deal.     If in doubt, always go for the General board.

1. Haven't a clue.

2. Add "-window" to the command line, some of us have problems alt-tabbing.

All is worky - Just pure black background ;) - I've just checked it out.
2.May be you know _good_ solution for OFP nonreducing ( it reduces but after *teen tries ) when videomodes in OFP and on the desktop are the same ? The only one I know ( and use ) is to reduce refresh in OFP to 85 Hz( 100 on the desktop ) but I don't like it :(

For those with problems alt tabbing out, do what I do.
Press control-alt-delete. Half the time it will go down to windows straight away so you can close down the systems manager that comes up and work with your script etc.
If C-A-D doesn't work, pressing alt-tab 1-3 times will. Remember to wait a while after each try.

Its much faster than just alt-tabing over and over  8)

i believe pressing Ctrl+Esc will work. it's the shortcut to bring up the start menu, and messes up in some programs, but i think it works in OFP.

I use ctrl+esc and it works fine.  But ever since I updated my GFX card driver there is a 5 to 10 second delay after I hit ctrl+esc before the desk top comes on and OFP minimizes.  So maybe others have this problem.  Somtimes patience is the key. ;D

You can make some programs run in a window by hitting alt + enter, although I havent tried it with OFP.  As for the delay between hitting alt + tab to switch from your desktop to OFP, make sure the refresh rate for OFP and Windows is different, i.e., OFP at 85mhz and desktop at 75mhz.  I bet these settings were changed when you updated your driver.
