Drop command in multiplayer
« on: 01 Dec 2004, 00:27:06 »
Does the drop command display on all clients in multiplayer?
What is the upper limit on particles before lag occurs in multiplayer? For example if I use a particle heavy script, like Igor Drukov's "ultimatefire.sqs", will it lag all clients to death?  Will it automatically be displayed on all clients?
urp!

Nope, its local only (displayed only on the client that runs it). there will be no 'lag' in multiplayer but you may experience slow framerates, it depends on the computer

Like in the hint box topic it depends where U execute it.

If U exec it in a serverscript everybody will see it.If U run it in a localscript only the client will see it.

Too many drop command is not good in MP,as most of them use a fast loop. Also many recent addons uses them in dust-smoke-fire effects,so be carefull when U add many.

A few burning fires in a MP map can already make a big difference.
