walking around in moving aircraft
« on: 06 Nov 2004, 01:33:47 »
hello,
I am sorry I have so many posts, I think of them well i am in school and tend to forget to post them and they acumulate untill 1 day i post them all at 1 time.

First of all u all have heard of the BAS chinook which allows u to walk around inside while the helecopter is hovering, and i was wondering if i could take a c-130 and if it is flying straight and not changing  speed, direction,or altitude,
could i make a script so u can walk around while it is in motion. I wouldnt even know where to start on this, any Ideas,
thanks

Hey Penguinman-

I have done this, it at least worked on my computer.  What you do is put a C-130 on a setpos loop.  I will attach I file soon.

Alright the file is attached below.

I don't know if it will work for the C5 you put a link to.  This is designed to be used with Hawk's C130 (latest version).

All you have to do is click preview in mission editor.  Your guy will immediately be moved inside the plane.  Then simply click eject and he will be ejected into the cargo area of the plane.  You can then HALO jump out the back if you want.

Couple of things:
-The plane isn't actually moving.  Its on a setpos loop that keeps it in one spot constantly.
-The pallets are there as support while running around inside the plane, if they weren't there you could still move around a little but to much and you fall out of the plane.  So just stay on the pallets.

-Also, I haven't really tried this in awhile.  The computer I am on right now is very slow and can't run the C130.  However, I made this mission on a good computer and it worked great.

Try it, let me know how it turns out.

*Also, this is not really done by scripting but rather what I think is just a glitch that works in our favor.*

wow nice job it looks so cool on cutscenes

well this looks really neat but I dont know if you could use this other than for cut sceens because the plane is not gong anywhere. What if insted of looping the plane in one spot you looped the men inside so they are continuosly setposed in the back of the plane. maby you could edit the ultimate halo script
Could this be done?
Any other ideas?
thank

ok
i tried it.
it dosent work but i can tell that it is really close.
like a small error in typing or somthing, the pallets dont go in the plane so u fall through.
http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=4898 heres the c-130, its a nice addon
Take this and keep trying you are on the brink of somthing great and u are so close.
Thanks to you and blip

I think you have a newer version than what you gave me a link to, because it still says i'm missing the addon..(yes its in the right folders all that stuff)
but anyway i "hacked" my way in by editing the mission file, and changed things i could, but i'm pretty sure it will work now....

omg u are so close,
this time when i eject I am standing on a pallet about 50m up and when i try to run it follows me for about 10 feet.
other times i just am in the parachute I can tell u are just about there I found the actual addon sry i got an old version

http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=6954

thanks so much u are verry close plz keep trying.

you could also try it with the C-5 it has much bigger cargo hold,
its the second biggest plane in the world next to the spruce goose. but u probably dont want me babaling on about that.
thats my biggest problem, babaling
anyways heres the c-5
