Background, bonehead Sui :P
« on: 05 Nov 2004, 23:13:53 »
I am making this custom title thingy right? And you guys know that you can't use JPGs if you want to make like a "hole" in the picture, 'cause then the jpg will turn that white. If you use .gif files you can have "holes", but OFP doesn't support .gif files. So I took my .gif and I texviewed it to a .paa file right? But it still turns out white! :-\
So I remember Suis excellent mission Facile Ground, which had a title with "holes" in it. So I DePBOed it and had a look at the description.ext file. U-huh, nothing different here. Just to be sure, I took the title.paa file and put it in my folder. Then I tried again. My picture had a background but Sui's didn't!! Aigh! So I had a look at the title.paa file in texview yea? And what do I see? His "holes" are grey, but how the hell did they get grey? When I converted my .gif it just turned white! I mean like, wtf? He using some kinda über Texview or summin here? ???

How can I make my "holes" to become grey as well? Thanks!

Closer inspection showed it was fiddling with Alpha Channels that made the trick. Hooray for me. :P

Hmm... bit of an identity crisis there, armsty? ;D

When I do resourses I use Photoshop to create a new .tga file (background transparent). I do what I want to do, copy a picture in or make some lettering, and save it as a .tga.

Then I pull out Texview and open the .tga file. I save it as a .paa, and throw it into my mission directory :)

What? Of course I'm God. ;D

Yea, I noticed that when I checked off view RGB in texview. There were some Alpha Channel stuff there. So I pulled up the good ol' photoshop manual. ;D

Just typical you replying a thread that's solved. ::) :P
