Getting rid of the radio
« on: 28 Oct 2004, 21:10:47 »
I'm making myself a more simple way of controlling the troops but I don't want the radio. I know to disable it you use the command "enableradio FALSE" but how do you make it vanish all together but still having guys in your group? Is this possible?

cheers

You mean not to even be able to use the radio codes like 1-1 (fall back into formation) at all?!

Cheez, that's a tough one. I think you'd have to finger some core file to do that.. or even sledgehammer it.
Not all is lost.

In my mission, the guys in your "squad" aren't actually in your OFP group. Since you are the only one in your group, you do not have any of those radio commands, or the "birds eye view". One of the main reasons I did things like that was to get rid of that damn view, which is SO cheap.

Those radio controls are hard-coded into OFP, and there is no way to touch them via scripting, AFAIK. Only way is to "fake it", and have the player by himself, controlling his "squad" via other means.

-------------------

HOWEVER, there MIGHT be an exception, if you are making a mod. I have heard that there is a way, via the config, to replace some of the default radio controls. Only problem is you can only replace them with the normal alpha-bravo-charlie trigger controls. Anyway, I don't know much about this, but I might be able to dig up some links/people if this would work for you.
