Getting West/East to attack Civs

Does anyone know if its actually possible to get the West and East sides to shoot at the Civilians?

I can get the Civilians to shoot at the West and East but they never shoot back.

Help!!

Group the civvies with the resistance side and make resistance friendly to nobody.

1) place the civilian on the map
2) group him with an east or west side unit (make sure the civ's rank is lower than the E/W unit)
3) put this in the E/W or Resistance* init field that is grouped with the civ:

Deletevehicle this

then the opposite side will fire at them; (ex: if you grouped it with a west unit, east will shoot at him and vise-versa)

*if you group the civ with Resistance, under the intel screen (click the cloud/sun at the top righthand corner) there is a "Resistance friendly to:" area at the bottom. Make sure it is "nobody" if you want both sides to shoot at them. You can use it to determine who will shot at them:

Friendly to:

West- east will shoot at him
East- west will shoot at him
Nobody- both sides shoot at him
Everyone- no point, he's safe from both sides

I suppose I could do that.

Is there not a way to have the Russians, West and Resistance against the Civilians? (ie. without grouping the Civilians with the resistance)

Thanks a lot Sophion-Black. My main problem was that if I had the resistance grouped with the Civilians, then how would I get rid of him. Thank you for clearing that up.

Is there really not a way to have the Civilians being shot at without grouping and destroyVehicle-ing?

That way all the sides would be against the Civilians.

Another way to get rid of the resistance guy without the deletevehicle thing is to make his probability of presence equal to 0.

Hey, thanks guys. I tried out both methods and they both work fine. Unless someone comes up with a way to make it so that the resistance guy isn't needed soon, I'll "solve" the topic - cause its close enough, really.

Well, it took us until a couple of months aog  - i.e. nearly three years - to perfect that method so I wouldn't hold your breath.   ;D

yes, using x addRating -9999999 bajillion or what ever would make the other units fire at each other, but i've used it a few times, and the civ loons prefer to shoot at the russians/west over each other. probably something to do with priority.
