It's a Scots word meaning a young man, particularly one who is stupid, worthless or mad.     "It's where you left it, you daft loon."

Of course you could always use 'quine' instead.

It's the female equivalent of 'loon'.

On second thoughts, better stick with 'loon' in order to not confuse the issue.
