what does unit rating do

The rating of the unit (duh ::) ) . Rating = Score you see in the debriefing.

it also determines whether you are friendly or enemy it seems, positive rating friendly/negative "rogue" or enemy

Its how BIS made the DM missions. Ever wonder how they got 8 americans to shoot each other? ??? :D

Some code more complicated than this I think, it had a bunch of () and [] stuff....

BTW: Killing enemies makes your rating go up. Killing friendlies makes it go down and the side effect is you're usually shot you mutinous bastard. ;) ;D
