Teleporting from one map to another
« on: 08 Aug 2004, 23:16:59 »
Greetings,

I am looking for the method used to move from one island to another in the course of a single mission. Or the method to make it appear like the player has moved from one island to another.

In the BIS Campaign the player takes off in an A10 from an airfield on the Malden map then flies northeast out over the ocean. The mission fades out on the Malden map then fades back in on the Kolgujev map. The player continues the mission over the ocean in the A10 flying toward the Kolgujev island where the mission calls for the player to destroy some east vehicles.

I have examined both of the missions in the editor but can't get a clue as to how it is done. I don't understand how the two separate missions are linked into what appears to be one mission.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

You can't have two islands in one mission.

However, you can create the illusion of it in a campaign.   That's what BIS did.    What appears to be one mission is in fact two missions, one following seamlessly from the other.    The second mission has no Briefing to get in the way (or the Briefing is skipped), and there are no Intros or Outros involved either.

The way a campaign "works" is handled in description.ext.     There are tutes on this in the Ed Depot.

There is nothing wrong with creating a Campaignette which has "one mission" set on two islands.   In fact, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea.

Thank you, I understand what you mean. I will look in the tutorial section and see if I can figure it out from there.

Thanks again for your time,
