OFP - GOTY Problem
« on: 19 Jul 2004, 09:34:03 »
I just bought the GOTY Edition of OFP (A truly, wonderful thing) but I'm having some problems. I had an add-on folder from my old resistance version and I replaced the AddOn Folder that came default with OFP - GOTY with the old one. Not a good thing, I now realize. However, you can't blame me. The original OFP never had a defauly AddOn Folder, so I replaced it without a second thought.

Now I can't start up OFP without getting error boxes telling me that 'this is wrong in this add-on, so I won't run' and 'that is wrong in that add-on, so I won't run' kinda thing. I don't know what to do. I'm not even sure this was the right board to post in.

Help...!  :'(

I would uninstall everything and reinstall the lot.  Others may have a better idea, but this way you know you have a clean system.

The best place for this kind of question is probably the official forums over at www.flashpoint.1985.com.    Try a forum search there first, I've done that serveral times and its come up trumps.

I'm not convinced that you really need to reinstall the whole thing, though it wouldn't do any harm.    I would suggest removing all addons and addon folders to somewhere else and then adding things back gradually.    Excessive addons can cause various memory problems.

In case it helps there are two addon folders in my directory structure, though I have Resistance (1.96) rather than GOTY.

flashpoint/addons
flashpoint/res/addons

Solright guys. You can actually bypass all those error messages by just going through a different OFP .exe file. There are two, but they both link to the same thing.

One is just 'OperationFlashpoint.exe'

The other is 'FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.exe'

'FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.exe' bypasses the error messages.

So now I am happy.  ;D

Yes, there is a difference. The 'FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE' launches resistance, and 'OperationFlashpoint' launches 1.46. No wonder you had problems. :P
