New Sides?
« on: 10 Jul 2004, 18:38:41 »
Hey
You know how there is the East, West, Resistance and Civillan sides

Is it possible to make a new side?

IE, so it shows up below the Civvilan side..

No idea if it is, though..
Anyone..?

IÂ've seen that but havenÂ't tested it ;D. It is in some config tutorial ::).
Do I need to play Operation Flashpoint to be here?

Do you mean a whole new side?  One that hates everyone (us, civvies, res. and east?) or just a new side, like another type of west?

Yeah, say, a random example..
You see this
West
East
Resistance
Civillian
Alien

If you see what I mean.. And west/east/res all try and attack the aliens, the civs wouldn't anyway..

Is it possible?

I don't want to destroy your hopse, but I don't think this is possible, since those sides are defined binary, which means that the exe "knows" how to "use" those sides (like who they will attack, for example)
But if MMFF says Snypir had written something about that, I would check if I were you ;-)

Arm the civvies!  Make them hate everyone!

I personally would love to see a 4 way battle between a bunch of crazed rock-throwing civilians and the ruskies.  That would be the funniest move mission...  And you could make the civilians win! AHahahahaa

Arm the civvies!  Make them hate everyone!

you can do some of that stuff already

you can arm civilians and make them attack any side..

and if you use addrating you can make any unit hated by every other unit on the map

addRating -100000

There are actually a few sides that are defined in the soldier config.cpp

#define TEast 0
#define TWest 1
#define TGuerrila 2
#define TCivilian 3
#define TSideUnknown 4
#define TEnemy 5
#define TFriendly 6
#define TLogic 7

I'm really not sure if you could make another side... guess you would have to edit the config.bin of OFP? like making a mod or something

:toocool:

But if you arm the civs, and setrating them, they will all atack each other ::)

Code: [Select]
#define TEast 0
#define TWest 1
#define TGuerrila 2
#define TCivilian 3
#define TSideUnknown 4
#define TEnemy 5
#define TFriendly 6
#define TLogic 7
Don't they just reference to the numbers (i.e you can type TGuerrila instead of guessing the number 2..?)

Wonder if there are other numbers.. ;)

Mmm, got two nicely huge 500KB text files now! :P
 :o

Searched the bin/config.bin for west, and didn't see anything related to new sides, and can't get resource.bin open, nor context.bin
:(
