Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me.
« on: 13 Jul 2004, 23:57:04 »
I have a briefing for a mission and I am trying to implement multiple pages into it. Tho I have run into some trouble with it.

What is happening is that I have two pages that I want to have links to. One labelled

-Situation

-Intel

But the thing is the dialogue for Intel carries on from Situation in the same section whereas I want them to be separate. Also the Link for Intel does'nt work and The bold print for the title also called intel does happen. To show you what I mean I will include a copy of my briefing. It works fine in the browser but when I export it into the Editor, it does'nt work and goes to pot basically.

Thanks in advance.

Olphy.

<h2><a name="Notes"></a></h2><h6>
June 14th 1994: Well I have finally arrived with my unit after some well earned R and R. But no sooner that we reported back in, were now being told that we are being shipped back out again, to some place called Everon, God knows where that place is. I can't even find it on the Map! But from what I've heard, its pretty grim over there. A classic example of the Local Government being out of touch with the majority of their people. Extremists are starting to Rebel and are quickly outnumbering local Forces, and thats where we are to come in. About 2 days ago HQ got a call from the Everon Republican Govt' saving that a Small, but adequately armed force is massing on a Small Island on the West coast of Everon and they are almsot certain that they will mass some sort of Attack on certain Economic soft spots of the Island very soon. I.e: Ports, Airfields and Militia Bases, in an effort to cripple the Country.
This Morning, we got word that the Islands Airport was attacked and quickly overwhelmed the Local Police. Govt' Forces have managed to Corner them. But were shipping out today, along with a Carrier Battle Group. Should we need any Additional Support... Just who the Hell are we going up against here!?

<h2><a name="sit"></a>Situation</h2>
<p>
<br>
Today, the Everon Republican Government Defence Forces were attacked by an unknown Rebel Force. Their estimated numbers being within 30-40 or more Infantry Soldiers, and One Armoured Fighting Vehicle (Ex-Soviet BMP). The enemy has been said to have complete control of the Airport and are continuing to demolish as much of it as possible. Spotters report a Radar Tower has already been destroyed.
<br><br>
Our job has now become more difficult as ERG forces have pulled back due to recieving harrasing fire from the Airport and Gorilla style ambushes on their Roadblocks near the area and the <a href="marker:m11">Local EDF Militia Outpost</a> nearby has also been abandoned, leaving a fully operational T-72 MBT and BMP IFV (The only Armoured Fighting Vehicles in the EDF Arsenal) for the Rebels to use, aswell as Small arms, Vehicles and AA Weapons. One more thing that does not rate highly in our favour at the moment is that the Spearhead Platoon-Alpha Squad, Inserted last night have failed to Report in and the MH-47E Helicopter transporting them has failed to return to base. This has prompted the attack to be abandoned, and a Rescue mission to be commenced. But the Mission so far remains. One thing in our favour though is the support of a Carrier battle group patroling this reigion. (Inc. the Carrier <a href="marker:m4">Nimitz</a>) and have offered us Close Air Support for our landing and for destroying the BMP in the reigion. These can be radioed in but pressing: (0-0-1).
<br><br>
We also have a specialist Weapons squad on Standby should you need them. (0-0-2) Note: Make sure you have at least 4 free spaces in your squad before calling these units in...
<br>
<br>

<h2><a name="int"></a>Intel...</h2>
<br><br><br>
<p>
-Enemy Numbers are said to be within 30-40 Infantry.
<br><br>
-The Enemy are mainly Armed with Czechozlovakian made AK-47CZ 7.62mm Rifles, Kolice Shotguns and Russian PKM GPMG's (7.62mm). They may also be armed with RPG and 9K32 Strela AA Launchers, which are capable of either Crippling or destroying all of our Aircraft (In this case Alpha Platoon's MH-47E).
<br><br>
-Enemy Morale is said to be high and will act aggressively under fire, expect Counter-Attacks.
<br><br>
-You will be Flying low as to avoid any un-nessicary early detection from AA Launchers and Enemy Spotters, if you are detected before arriving at the Beach then the Enemy will gain the Advantage, we will lose the element of surprise, and you will Suffer the fate as Alpha Platoon.
<br><br>
-Combat Environment is under a Terperate Climate, Weather is Thunder and Rain.
<br><br>
<p align="left"><img src="mission_screenshot_2.jpg" width="198" height="114">
<p>
Ranger Squad Alpha 1 (You) Will insert via MH-6 Littlebird Special Operations Helicopter from the East Coast and will Land at Point A, Bravo in the Blackhawk at Point B and Charlie in Littlebird No.2 at point C. LMG Gunners will give Sustained Fire while Riflemen advance toward the treeline. Charlie section will be in possesion of an M240 7.62mm GPMG, they will be responsible for longer ranged sustained fire and for guarding the Airports main entrance from Enemy reinforcements from the Captured Militia base.

Firstly, don't edit the Briefing in a browser, it will only end in tears.    Briefings use lots of html, but they are not ordinary html documents.     Edit it in a text editor like Notepad.

Secondly, Briefings are notorious for things like this.   RAther than hack through all the code trying to find the mistake the best thing to do is either use an existing Briefing as a template (for example the one in the Tutorial Mission which does have links to seperate pages) and just copy and paste in your own text; or use one of the Briefing creation tools from the Ed Depot.    (Somebody more qualified than me on this point might be able to recommend one.)
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

I'm no expert on briefings, but I've done hyperlinks before and why would you put the intel and situation in the notes? I always put that in the plan part. The link and the text part and it works fine for me.

 :P

Macguba's right you should edit your briefing in CHOFPSE or notepad. Probably CHOFPSE since I see you already used it. ;)

I have a briefing that I think does what you want.  I didn't work it out myself, SnYpir has written a tutorial on it. If the tutorial doesn't help you let me know and I will send you the source code for mine.  (Check out 'A Defensive Strike' in the mission Beta testing Forum  to see if mine does do what you want).
