how can i disable going prone for ai?
« on: 06 Jul 2004, 20:20:20 »
i need somwthing which will disable ai from going prone. i don't need all ai to do this just ceratain groups from one waypoint to another and then get back to usual postion. in capatain when you are leader you can tell them to stand up and they won't go prone. but in the mission i'm crating you aren't the squad leader so i don't know how to do this.

My problem is that i am trying to get a large group of infantry cross a bridge (24 ai exactly) but when they see the 2bmps on the other side they start crwaling and advance very very slowly. and when the other ai, who try to cross the bridge come behind them, it becomes a total mess. some of them just start to turn around and around and that's all they do. the leader won't order destroy the bmps because they are 300metres away although he knows they are there and he has 3 law soldiers.

can someone please help me sort out this problem? any help will be appreaciated. thanks

hey ryankaplan i just asked this question and the answer is : In the soldiers init fields who are charging enemy positions put
this setunitpos "UP"
And give the soldiers some solid waypoints and they should stand up and run to the wp without ducking or anything. that info from GRK.

You could try

loon1 setUnitPos "auto"

to make them behave normally again after they have crossed the bridge.    Not guaranteed.
Plenty of reviewed ArmA missions for you to play

Bridges are like helis. A real pain the ass for editing. :D :)

All I can recommend is have the waypoints come to the area right before the bridge and have the next waypoints STRAIGHT across the bridge, that usually gives me the best results. One time I had a whole convoy of T72s and trucks drive right underwater one by one succesfully completeing the being created mission without me doing anything... :P

The setunitpos works good for keepin ppl up at windows and stuff too.
