Lights on Empty Vehicles!
« on: 09 Jun 2004, 01:43:34 »
Hi. I've searched for this, but can't find it.

I want to make a trigger so that when it goes off, the lights on a pair of empty vehicles -- UAZ1, and UAZ2 turn on.

How do I go about this?

I think that lights can only be turned on if there is someone in the vehicle. But, gamelogics can be used inplace of people (I THINK :P ). Just move a pair of GL's into the UAZ's when the trigger has been tripped.

Hmm. Outta my league.

Is there a tut or something that I can find, in terms of how to do this with GL's, or use them at all? XD

Check the ed. depot for tutorials. But, just creat two game logics, and name them gl1 and gl2. Then in the "ON ACTIVATION" field of the trigger, put:

gl1 moveindriver uaz1; gl2 moveindriver uaz2

the lighs of the vehicles should come on. But this means that nobody can get into the vehicles as drivers because that space is taken up by the GL's.

There is a very good thread on gamelogics from May last year .... wait .... here it is.

game logic
gamelogic
GL

Well, I've finally got round to taking that thread, tidying it up and submitting it to the Editors Depot.    It's under pending at the moment, and contains the same info as the thread but perhaps slightly easier to read.

omg I never thought of that!  :o

I've been using GL's to fill in passenger seats before but I never thought of putting one as driver. I just tried it and it really works! I put a jeep on desert island at night and made a GL go in as driver from it's init field and the jeep really did have it's lights on.

Very cool for effects in cutscenes for example. Good stuff
