Briefing almost good, but....
« on: 04 Jun 2004, 00:17:08 »
My briefing is coming along after getting it right in CHOFPSE. but I've found its a real pain in the arse to edit it after but I manage. Everything is okay except I can't get indents to work. Any suggestion here would be good. My other probelm is that my text keeps going okay then it encounters the objs and there is a big space that I'm pretty sure I don't remember putting in. THen there is an extra page with the text above the objs. Like it was copied again or something. :P

Here it is....

Well finally we're takin it back to those bastards. After giving them their island back from the Russians they went crazy and started attacking us. Why? Nobody's sure, but they have become a real pain in the ass after we discovered they had found an abandoned Soviet tank depot. <br><br>
We have been pushed back near St. Pierre and we are just holding Durras, Vernon, and Regina. Our guys up north are doin better and control half of the top part of Everon. They are pushin those rebels back, but slowly and at a great cost to us.<br><br>
Lately the guys in Durras have gotten some really bad bouts of shelling as the rebels have set up arty in the hills above. We lost radio contact today, not sure what happened to them. But I'm ready, I came to late to oust the Russians, but I'm sure as hell gonna get my feet wet today!

Alright captain, here's the plan. You are to lead an infantry squad on a mission to clear the <a href = "marker:enemy"> rebel artilley base</a> so our tanks can pass through Durras. You will have the help of a small special forces team and two snipers, just call them in with code ALPHA. <br><br>
Then proceed to the <a href = "marker:cle"> rebel supply base</a> and clear it. APCs will help you when you call in code BRAVO. They will then proceed on to the last objective. <br><br>
Your last and most important objective is to capture and hold <a href = "marker:ho">Levie</a>. Use code CHARLIE to call in the tanks and infantry on this final assualt on rebel forces on the south of Everon. <br><br>
There are rumors that the rebels have a chopper, be careful. You are codename Alpha. Follow the green dotted route on your map to stay out of the rebels direct line of fire, we can't have you pinned down. Take note that Russians may be helping the resistance now in order to get rid of us and then pounce on their rebel allies. Be careful of Soviet troops, they must be wiped out too. Good luck.

Good job soldier! The rebels have been pushed back onto the middle of Everon and are being picked apart by our forces up north. You might get a medal for this....

I know it says created by CHOFPSE but I had to put some of my stuff in there after editing it. :)

More suggestions here too please. ;)

The big gap thing is a bug in OFP. To avoid it you have to remove a bit from the briefing for the objectives to fit in or you have to do a second page with the help of hyperlinks. I'm sure you've seen that done before as "detailed briefing" or something like that.

Actually, if you use a smaller font, it helps ( <h4></h4> )

Then, correct every single <br> tag by having the text line always starting with the <h4> end ending with the </h4>. No <br> tags amidst the text...
Also remember that there should not be any line changes between the <h4></h4> tags, or it will screw things in OFP...

Here's a caption of a briefing I've done, and with this 'style' I've had the briefings (not this particular one though) extend into the next page with the objectives and no problems...
(There are lines changes between the two tags in this, but this is caused by this forum software...)

<h4>As the SA-9 Gaskin has very heavy guidance scripting it is quite hard on the CPU.</h4>
<h4>So if you have a low-end(ish) system (less than 1,5 Ghz CPU, 512MB RAM) it is wise to keep the Gaskins apart from each other. Doing this you will increase the Gaskins hit precentage.</h4>
