texturing

OK my first tank is ready i think some bugs are there , a sample my gunner driver and commander are sitting under the tank ??? ??? :-/  , but the texturing doesn't work , can someone help me ??? i have some pictures for texturing ready but i couldn't load them "no texture loaded..." now i need help.

I need help please :-/

i hope someone understand

Go to texture mode and right cklick and: load texture. then load texture  :P...... I'm sure you have done this already... If it still doesn't load, go to options, and set DLL folder (the directory where O2 is installed). :) Hope this works (I had this kind of problem :P)

The DLL files are like plugins, wich make it possible to load those texture formats...  8)

no it doesn't happen anything , i have set DLL folder and try to load a texture but he dosn't show a failure or a message ??? ??? :-/

Make sure your textures are in the same folder as your p3d model file.

This folder should also be inside your O2 folder.

ok this works , but the textures are inside instead of outside what i do wrong ???

If you have the textures on the reverse face to the one required,.........just reverse the faces........Pressing 'W' whilst the face is selected ......I think.

If my memory is faulty someone will correct me I'm sure.

hmm dosn't work  :-\  i select a face and load a texture , the texture apears but it stay in the air  , the texture dosn't stay on the model ??? :-\

oK.....here is the way I usually texture a face.
It's been a while, but I think my memory serves me well.

1./  Select the face with the face selection tool.

2./  Press 'A' to enter texture mode.

3./  Draw the rectangle to cover the face you want textured.

4./  Right click the rectangle and choose 'Load Texture'.

5./  Choose the texture you want from the load dialogue.

6./  Press 'B' to map the texture to the face.

7./  Press 'A' again to leave texture mode.

If all went well you should see the face with its texture in buldozer.

BTW, are you sure the textures are the sizes :
32x32, 64x64, up to 128x128, 256x256, 1204x1204
(In pixels.. You can also have sizes like 64x256 etc, I'm sure)

You are correct it is 'A'.

I changed my shortcut key for this item, I forgot about that.   ;D

I have corrected my previous post to reflect the correct key.

*JB revives an old topic ::)

when you make the .pbo of your tank (using stuffPBO or whatever) you have to include the textures in the .pbo

this might solve your problem

I think he fixed the applying texture prob, but they dont show in game - who knows? I maybe wrong - I usually am :)

T'was 3 months ago :P
Hopefully he's fixed it now..

I think whats happened is that he hasn't got O2 in a root drive (Z:\ etc)
So the paths to the textures are wrong

And rather than using hypersnap to take a screenshot I normally use the "PrintScreen" key which copies the current display to the clipboard.

Then I open my paint package (PSP / Photoshop) and paste it.

What about "Print Screen" - always did the job for me :)

To fix the "textures-not-showing-up-ingame-problem", try this:

In O2, select one of the faces (that doesn't display the texture in-game) and press "E". This will bring up the "Face PRoperties" box.

In the bottom-right corner of the box, there are three buttons (right to left) each with different icons, and a text box - probably with a line in it -- normally like "\AddonFolderName\TextureName.paa".

If there is nothing in the box, then there's your problem. To solve this, click on the far right button to bring up a box showing your directories. Navigate this until you find your "AddonFolderName" in your O2 root directory. Then find the texture you want to apply to that face and select that. Then, PBO your folder and try it out.

If there was something in the text box in the "Face Properties" pox, then look at what it says. If it says something which doesn't relate eg: "\RandomFolderName\YourTexture.paa" - then you'll need to re-direct it to the AddonFolderName folder and select the texture there.

Your problem has for sure to do with wrong texture path.

Let's say you have made a virtual root drive like described
in brsseb's tute, and you named that z:\

In real it's c:\ofpedit, but your pc thinks it's z:\  ;)

Now you must check the texture path in o2, how you did
access the texture.

I'm very sure you accessed it by c:\...etc., as the error messy
texture path too long also come up for u.
