Links to all your sound needs
« on: 28 Jun 2004, 09:08:43 »
I've got links to freeware TTS (text-to-speech) programs - for those of us who do not have a mic (grrr) to record sounds with.  Also there are links that go to the wav to ogg converters.  there are some links that you may need to pay to get a really good prog. off the internet... (just a warning)

 - http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/system/fwvoicetech.html - Freeware TTS Installer - Download (BUG FREE)

 - http://www.mindbeat.com/agent.shtml - TTS Program  - Download (BUGS ???)

 - http://www.golddownload.com/Recommend. asp?softid=27121&software=TextSpeech%20Pro - TTS Prog. - Download? (BUGS ???)

Below are links to on-site TTS engines.

 - http://www.rhetorical.com/cgi-bin/demo1.cgi - On-site TTS, not much use though...

 - http://www.research.att.com/~mjm/cgi-bin/ttsdemo - AT&T free on-site TTS demo.  I think (though not too great), this is the best bet if you don't feel like d/ling anything.

I'm sure there are lots more but I don't have any more time.

WAV to OGG converter link(s?)

 - http://www.opflashpoint.org/features/ogg_converter.zip - OpFlashpoint.org link to ogg converter.

 - http://www.ofpec.com/editors/browse.php?browseon=&browsewhat=-1&catselected=-1_-1&catagory=-1&subcategory=-1_-1&numreturn=25&displayformat=0&ofpv=1&searchwhat=1&searchlevel=0&searchwhat=1&searchopts=&searchstring=ogg&x=15&y=14 - OFPEC (w00t) link to search page for .ogg converter.

WAV2LIP is on above link also.

Hope I helped a little.  (was this ok...?)

Well i generally do voice actinjg anyway as i can impersonate virtually any accent anyway, but my mic has stopped working right now which is a bitch.

Oh and to answer the question in your sig, i assume you're talking about the movie "Don't Be A Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In The Hood"? Yes I've seen that movie.

Yes it was a damn funny movie, only one thing, the guy that gets shot at the beginning is on his 21st birthday when he gets shot as he says "Most of us won't reach the age of 21" before his friend comes on with the cake with the 21 on it and starts singing "happy birthday homeboy". You can tell i've seen the movie a few times.

AnarCHy, cheers for that little lot, my notions of doing custom radio messages have been held back by my knackered sound card and a general lack of talent on my part at voices (I can barely impersonate myself).

I'm not familiar with that particular film but in the UK our cinemas and vid shops are about 24 years behind the rest of the world.

I'm in the UK. It's been on TV a few times, even on terrestrial which really surprised me as there's never usually anything on there.

Acid, I'll keep an eye out for it.  Handy thing with the text to speech programmes is that you can record all your sound samples to get a mission working OK, then if you can find some people to do proper voices you can over-write the files.

Speakonia seems very good.  Although it sounds a bit like Stephen Hawking at times, it's actually not as monotonous as you might expect and has enough different voices to cover a few characters.   I wonder when support for proper Brit English will come out - Scots, Welsh, Scouse, Brummie, Cockney, Zummerzet....

you can download voices from some sites...  can't find those right now, no time, but.... a screw it.  Here is a link to download different voices (yes, even a british accented or two...): http://www.rhetorical.com/cgi-bin/demo.cgi

You'll have to go down below the text box and change the options to your liking...  there is another site... here it is, you have to pay but you can get quality recorded accented voices to use insted of "sam" or whatever is default.  here: http://www.bytecool.com/voices.htm

Yes, even british.

If you still don't wanna d/l much here is one more link: http://www.naturalvoices.att.com/demos/
Just another AT&T link but the voices differ ins ome ways....

Go to this page on my website http://www.derelictstudios.net/acid/downloads.php?page=voiceacting and you can download five voice packs i did for mods for Command & Conquer. That will give you an idea of some of the voices I can do, though I do alot more than that. I've figured out whats wrong with my microphone, its not the mic it's actually Windows Sound Recorder, i tried doing a full system reinstall but strangely that didn't help. If someone can help me find a program to record sound from a microphone, prefarrably that I dont have to pay for, then I can provide voices for anyone that needs them.
