A working wss encoder anywhere??
« on: 09 May 2004, 13:02:28 »
The one here at OFPEC does not work properly.
Tested it with W2k and 98 with the same results, so I doubt it has anything to do with OS...

When using it on wavs made from scratch it produces always a wss at size of 78kb  (And silent) regardless of the wavs size. And yes, I tested this with several different sample rates. (files also were mono...)

Then I tested it on original BIS wss. The 'conversion' from wss to wav works. The wss at size of 41kb (roughly) produced a wav size of 82kb (roughly).
But when I tried to 'convert' the wav back wss the filesize did not change one bit. It stayed the same as the wavs.
Furthermore, the wss made with the wsscod can be opened as wavs in sound-engineering tools like Cool Edit etc. but BIS original wss' can not.

So is there a encoder that actually does 'convert' wav to wss?
