Is it possible to put units on an lst and make them move around on it. for example can you place a chopper on it and make two pilots get in and take off? ???

You can land on an LST, but you will fall in the sea when you disembark.
AI pilots will suffer from collision problems when you place the chopper on the helipad of an LST.

So my answer is no.  :)

Unless its moving you can put it where it got a decent geometry LOD(i.e. on the helipad). I think.

There's an LSD addon out there, which you can actually run around on and land helos on. Grab it at ofp.info.
