Realistic Medical Support

This isn't really an addon idea, but I don't know where it could go.

I would like to see Combat Medical Support upgraded to be a little more realistic. In a real combat situation, it takes a lot more than 10-15 seconds to patch up a wounded buddy who got shot by 7.62mm. I then thought, if it was possible to see a medic drag a wounded soldier to cover and patch him up there. The severity of the would would be indicated by an increased time. If you got shot in the leg, then you wouldn't be able to walk. You call the medic and he tells you to hobble over to a set of trees or bushes for some conceiled cover. He patches you up and calls for a MEDIVAC, helo or armored vehicle.

I don't like the fact that your health is restored to normal after 10 seconds of the medic moving his hands in a circular motion over top your near-lifeless body. If that were true in real life, then don't call him a Medic, call him Jesus Christ the miracle worker! :)

Yes in reality medics take more than 10-15 seconds. But also in reality people die more easily(not just from instant head shot). And unless the combat is really bad a wounded soldier makes his way to the rear or waits for the rear to catch up with him. It has only been in Modern times that MEDIVAC have been used alot. Even today a MEDIVAC Helo does not get somewhere in 5 minutes. Usually the medic stabalizes a wounded soldier and tries to find a way to get him evacuated as soon as possible. Time frames for evac can range from several minutes to more than an hour.

Plus I think the medics in OFP are a waste of time to use because the command to heal takes to long to issue. Also you only have up to 12 men. In most major combat zones you have several waves of troops behind you as support if your unit has to fall back or have troops evacuated.

Hello,

i did some scripts, to simulate that effect (if you are interested have a look at my SEALs in Nam V2 in the Beta missions).
I used the follow Idee: All down soldiers are not down but badly wounded. They die with damage >= 1. If the Medic comes near them he reports their condition. You could drag them everywhere you want. And them MEDIVAC them out with a chooper or other transport.
The scripts really work okay, but except in a campaign it does not bring any benefit.

Why not extend the idea, and use ANOTHER group, maybe only medics, who stay behind, follow the assault group(s) and heal the wounded?
Scripting time..

Hi,

Being a medic myself I have been working on a realistic medic script. Its been much more intensive then I thought but it is coming along nicely. I have included some screen shots but they don't do it justice.

I have built in many conditions such as major trauma, minor trauma, diabeties, heat stroke, hyperthermia, epilepsy and a few others. Being a war simulation I have focused on the trauma aspects as I feel it will appeal to the most people that way.

Almost all conditions if not treated right away will only be able to be stablized in the field and will require transportation to a medical center.

Here are some features of the medic script.

1. Decompensating Shock ( Basicly a bleeding script, if the injury is not treated in a certian amount of time the injury and symptoms are accerlerated until death appox 1 hour)

2. Cardiac Arrest and Tramatic Cardiac Arrest with defib treatment and cheesy anims...lol

3. Resp arrest.

4. Detailed Vitals...if you name it...you can get it

5. Scripted equipment like auto vital takers, cardiac monitor etc.

6. Tons of treatments and drugs (iv, defib, 02, bvm, iv meds, im meds)

7. Very realistic patient engine (patient and vitals responds to good and bad treatment protocols realisticly)

8. basic patient loading and unloading into helo or ambulance with function to allow treatment in air.

9. Simple intergration ( patient can be scripted via init line with condition onset and a intial vital set)

I hope to have something in beta in the next month or so...as well as a website www.tacmedics.com but for now you can reach me at pjohnson@eventmedics.org
